Laser hair removal requires multiple treatment sessions and will depend on the area to be treated, the thickness and colour of the hair, skin type and the specific needs of each patient. Routine appointments every 4 weeks for facial areas and every 6 weeks for treatments on the body are important to ensure desired results are achieved.

FOTONA Nd: YAG – Fast – Comfortable – Effective

Laser hair removal treatments have traditionally worked best on people with fair skin and dark hair since the light from the laser does not get absorbed by dark pigments in the skin surrounding the hair follicle. Devices with longer wavelengths, such as Fotona’s Nd:YAG laser with its exclusive FRAC3 laser delivery system, have the ability to treat darker skin types safely and effectivly as they can reach the deepest hair follicles while leaving surrounding tissues unaffected.

Electrolysis & High Frequency (Skin Tag, Facial Vessels & Milia Removal)

Electrolysis has been around since the 1800′s and is the only proven method of permanent hair removal. Electrolysis works through the use of small amounts of electrical current being released into the hair follicle and destroying the growing cells nourishing the hair. The hair is released and removed during the treatment. Electrolysis requires a series of consistently planned treatments with the number of sessions depending on a number of factors including the area being treated and the use of temporary methods in the past. All areas and skin types can be treated by electrolysis and is most frequently used to treat eyebrows, upper lip and chin. Skön Laser Clinic uses the latest computerized technology along with surgical microscopes for detailed skin analysis. Electrolysis is used in combination with laser hair removal for those clients lacking the dark pigmentation required for laser including blonde and white hair.

Sterile, disposable stainless steel filaments are used and a new filament will be opened during each treatment. Electrolysis is proven safe during pregnancy.

Intense Pulsed Light uses exclusive technology to target problem areas with narrow wavelengths of light.

Photorejuvenation

The SWT/IPL treatment makes your skin look clear and bright by delivering short bursts of light that directly target the blood vessels and/or melanin (pigmentation/dark spots) within your skin. Your skin cells absorb this light and transform it into heat, creating targeted tissue damage that destroys built-up melanin and other unwanted pigments. It delivers clinically proven results and is an excellent option to renew your skin and improve its overall elasticity. These treatments do not interfere with a client’s daily routine and can repair damage to most areas including face, neck, chest and hands. A series of treatments may be required to achieve full effect.
Diffuse Redness

Diffuse redness is a condition caused by an increase in blood flow to the surface of the skin due to dilated capillaries. Diffuse redness is characterised by intermittent blushing and flushing that leaves the skin red/pink and often warm to the touch. Redness occurs when blood rushes to the skin and causes capillaries to dilate, resulting in an overall flushed appearance.

If left untreated, the delicate capillaries can remain dilated and result in permanently broken capillaries on the skin’s surface or chronic redness (such as Rosacea). Common causes of diffuse or general redness include genetics, sun exposure, medications, alcohol consumption, hot or spicy food, stress, exertion, and poor skincare.
Rosacea

This chronic condition can only be diagnosed by a medical professional and can differ from general redness in its severity. Usually characterized by persistent deep, ruddy redness accompanied by broken capillaries. The Nordlys™ treatment for rosacea can help to reduce the symptoms by delivering short, safe bursts of intense pulsed light (SWT/IPL) at the skin. The system filters the light to ensure the wavelengths used are absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood in your problem vessels. A series of treatments may be required to get optimal results and keep the symptoms to a minimum.
Acne

The Nordlys™ system gently treats acne by delivering short safe bursts of intense pulsed light (SWT/IPL) directly at the dermis.

Our bodies produce a hormone called androgen, which stimulates our sebaceous glands to produce an oily substance called sebum. An overproduction of sebum can block pores, trapping the oil causing inflammation. The Nordlys SWT/IPL acne treatment has been clinically proven to accelerate the healing process for acne. The treatment reduces the blood supply to the sebaceous gland, slowing down the production of sebum. The light also has the ability to kill some of the bacteria directly.
Vascular Lesions

Birthmarks/Port Wine Stains – Very few of us have totally flawless skin; most of us have some areas of pigment or redness. Birthmarks are coloured spots that are present at birth or develop soon afterwards. And “red” birthmarks are not necessarily red, they may be pink or red, purple or light blue in colour, but all have a network of small blood vessels that give them their colour. Some, such as the strawberry mark (infantile hemangioma) disappear on their own by the time we reach five to seven years old, others leave a small mark, but some, such as Port Wine Stain, grow as we do; the vessels grow larger, and the colour may change from red or pink, to purple or a darker blue. Almost all respond well to Ellipse SWT/IPL or Nd:YAG technology.

Broken Capillaries/Facial Telangiectasia – The thin vessels called facial telangiectasia, around your nose or on your cheeks are small blood vessels near the surface of the skin, often formed because of sun exposure, trauma to nose and surrounding tissue. In addition to small veins, some of us have small red spots on the skin. Others, called spider veins, have a circular centre, with small veins branching out.

Poikiloderma – Is a noncancerous skin condition that appears as a combination of telangiectasias, irregular pigmentation and atrophic changes on the neck/face and chest mainly effecting faired skinned individuals. The cause is unknown however factors such as chronic exposure to sunlight, photosensitizing chemicals, perfumes and cosmetics, hormonal changes relating to menopause and genetic predisposition have been discussed.

Surgical Scar Revision (colour reduction) – Depending on the scar type, scars can take up to 2 years to fade naturally. The Nordlys technology can speed the healing process by reducing the colour of the scar and making it less visible.

Skin Tightening

IncontiLase™ is a laser treatment for the treatment of mild and moderate stress urinary incontinence, resulting from gentle heating of the tissue under the neck of the bladder which causes collagen production and shrinking and tightening of vaginal tissue giving greater support to the bladder. The Fotona laser gently warms the vaginal tissue, stimulating collagen remodeling and the formation of new collagen in the urethral region, as well as in the area along the vaginal wall.
